Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Night: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)

About the Role

Our Hospital and Medical Center Chicago is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) for permanent positions in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). As an integral member of our healthcare team, the ICU RN plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care to patients with complex medical needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Continuous monitoring of vital signs
• Administering emergency response care
• Overseeing life support systems
• Applying the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to coordinate outcome-focused patient care
• Incorporating holistic nursing theory
• Establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and families through effective communication
• Performing diagnostic tests, follow-up visits, monitoring patient recovery, and responding to medical emergencies
• Maintaining knowledge of current medical equipment and nursing techniques for critical care settings (e.g., ventilators, IABP)
• Performing wound care for surgical sites and other wounds
• Monitoring patient vital signs and recovery closely
• Maintaining accurate medical records and filing required reports
• Actively participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical quality, patient experience, nursing engagement, and care outcomes
• Contributing to the development and achievement of department goals
• Complying with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, board of nursing requirements, patient safety practices, infection control, and established policies and procedures
• Performing other responsibilities as needed or assigned

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program is preferred.
• Valid and Active RN License required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification required (AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with ICU or PACU experience preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to the patient care model and the organization's nursing vision and strategy.
• Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure.
