Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the CVICU/CCU is responsible for providing specialized critical care nursing to patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit. This role demands strong CVICU skills including Day 0 CVICU experience, with responsibilities encompassing patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse will work night shifts in a fast-paced environment, supporting community-based care in a smaller hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to CVICU and CCU patients, including those in cath labs and hybrid cath labs.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and execute treatment plans according to protocols.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
• Participate in call rotations, responding to staffing needs as required.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and clinical data.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety standards.
• Support patient and family education and communication throughout the care process.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Colorado Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years critical care nursing experience.
• Strong CVICU skills with Day 0 CVICU experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Mandatory annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted) during flu season (Oct 1 - April).
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced critical care environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with cath lab and hybrid cath lab patients.
• PALS certification.
• Previous experience in smaller or community hospital settings.

Special Considerations:

• 12-hour night shifts including weekend rotations.
• Participation in call rotation with one call shift per two-week period as needed.
• Flu vaccination is mandatory with no exceptions.
• Potential housing available near the hospital for travelers, fully furnished with utilities included.

Scheduling:

• 12-hour night shifts with weekend rotation.
• Call rotation requiring one call shift every two weeks in lieu of guaranteed hours if requested.
